Water Damaged iPhone - What to Do Now

Its raining cats and dogs outside and you make a mad dash for your car. You have your iPhone in one hand and you're fumbling around for your car keys with the other. As you frantically try to get out of the rain, the inevitable happens... you drop your iPhone. You pick up your phone and get in the car and quickly check to see if it still works. It seems to be working for the most part... until the screen starts blinking on and off on it's own. Now what?

Until recently, Apple did not offer any replacements for water damaged iPhones. You were left with either buying a brand new iPhone, having your iPhone repaired by Apple for the out-of-warranty price or finding a third-party iPhone repair service company for a lower cost. Apple recently changed its policy on water damaged iPhones though. The policy does include all iPhone models from the latest 3GS model to the original iPhone. The policy states that Apple will indeed replace your water damaged iPhone for a fee of $199. However, your iPhone will be replaced with a same-generation iPhone and not all replacements will be new iPhones. Some customers will receive refurbished phones.

You may be wondering how you (or Apple) can tell if you have a water-damaged iPhone. You only dropped it in a 1/4" puddle of water for 5 seconds tops, so that can't qualify as a water-damaged iPhone...right? According to Apple's website, all you need to do is look "directly down into the headphone jack," where you will see a small colored dot. That small dot will be silver or white in iPhones without water damage. In an iPhone that has water damage, the dot will be red or pinkish.

Now that you've determined that your iPhone is water-damaged, what are your options? You could take advantage of Apple's iPhone replacement policy, but $199 for an outdated and possibly refurbished model seems like a steep price tag. Another option is to have Apple repair your iPod. Their repair pricing varies from $49 (for the iPod Shuffle) to $249 for the iPod. And lastly, you can have a third party iPhone repair company fix your iPhone for you, most likely for a lower cost. Some iPhone repair companies also offer a free diagnostic since the damaged iPhone part(s) are not necessarily visually evident in water damaged iPhones. Once the iPhone is diagnosed, you are notified of how much the repair will cost and can make a decision at that point whether the repair is worth it.

Accidents happen and it's definitely great that Apple has stepped up and is offering an iPhone replacement on water damaged iPhones. However, keep in mind that there are other less expensive alternatives out there.

Business Idea - Do You Want An Outstanding, Stunning, Guaranteed Business Idea? This Is Explosive

Kohl had a business idea which he now does full-time. He taught his cousin how to do it. His cousin cleared $130 his first day doing the business idea. Two weeks later, in a three-day stretch, he cleared $1,500. This is important if you are interested in making money!

What is the problem?

Any great business idea is a solution for a problem. It is unusual to find a business idea which works really well for anyone making the effort to reveal the secrets with a sincere and genuine effort. Here is why this works: Just a few years ago, Apple introduced the iPhone. That first phone (the 2G) is still a viable phone, and people who have one will let you have it when you pry it from their cold dead fingers - THAT is product loyalty (and durability). So what is the problem? The glass breaks, and about seven other things commonly can go wrong with any iPhone.

What is the business?

Apple gets huge prices to repair an iPhone. They do not warranty broken glass, even if you have the special extended "juicy apple" coverage. They just ask for $200 or more to fix it. This creates an underground (but honest and real) opportunity!

What can you make?

Apple's shameful charges allow an independent repair person to charge $60 to $99 on the street for a $200 Apple repair. The typical net profit per repair is $40. You don't need to know electronics to do this! The typical repair takes 10 to 15 minutes. It is possible to do 15 repairs a day.

What about the competition?

As more and more devices break because they use touch screens (and get dropped) this business idea expands like rocket exhaust! Don't forget the iPod, the iPad, and now the Droid!

How do you get going?

Find a proven mentor to help you learn the repairs. Join a co-op-like group to get super low prices on parts. Work hard to learn how to do this business. Be a good detective, and reveal the trade secrets.

Important Steps To Solve The Issues In Apple iPads

The third generation of Apple iPads is ruling the entire world. But, some people have encountered certain quirks and bugs in their iPads, which is quite surprising because Apple is known for making flawless products. I am pretty confident that even with the fact that there are some issues with the third generation, iPad will still rule the world because of the top-class features and ultimate design that you get in the iPad. For those who have encountered certain problems in their iPad devices should look for the genuine centers for Apple iPad repairs. I know that, it will be relatively hard to look for a reliable repair center or some useful tips to remedy these problems and bugs.

There are, however, some easy and practical procedures that you can take help from and get your iPad back to the normal condition. If you encounter problems with this new Apple tablet, it is important to read all the terms and conditions before making any hardware or software changes. You have to go through the basic guides below to help you get your Apple iPad repaired easily:

1. You have to check for the updates on the Apple website regularly. I have seen many people who have found problems with the WiFi connectivity of the Apple iPad. I would like to mention a remedy that has proven to be effective is to update your WiFI router's firmware. If this doesn't work, then you can try changing the encryption of your router's password. On a number of forums, you will see the comments from other iPad users who suggest that people having this problem must try switching the position of their router in case they experience a weaker WiFi signal. As per the reports from the Apple, the latest firmware update of the Apple iPad solves this issue once it for all.

2. If the above step hasn't worked for you, then you can try resetting your iPad before trying anything else. If you see your iPad getting hanged or giving you problems consistently, then you should try resetting your Apple iPad before taking it to the official Apple store for repairs. It is true that most of the repair problems can be fixed easily without going to the repair centers. All that is required at that time is a soft reset. All you have to do is to press the power button and hold it for three to four seconds. After you press it, you will see the slider button on the screen of the iPad. Then, you have to slide the arrow with your finger to turn your iPad off. After that, you have to wait for about 10-15 seconds before turning it back on again.

3. If there are more complicated problems, then you should hard reset your iPad. Once the settings are changed to the factory settings, you can believe that your iPad will now work normally. Your data will be deleted forever during the process, so you have to take the backup before doing the hard reset.

4. I have also seen the battery of the smart devices, creating problems in the software section. If your iPad is still giving you problems, then you can buy a new battery from the authorized Apple store.

5. If nothing works for you, then you have got no choice, but to pay a visit to the Apple repair center. Now, they are the only ones who can really solve your iPad problems once and for all. You can search on the web for the authorized Apple repair centers in your area.

Does Your Mac Need Repairing or Just a Memory Upgrade?

A common feature of all computers is that the upgrades of memory will almost always result in a faster machine. Originally, Apple MacBooks came with 2GB of memory. Basic versions of all the MacBook, including versions of the MacBook Pro, came from a local Apple reseller with 2GB as standard, with many models featuring 4GB.

With dual memory slots, the MacBook can be upgraded by an Apple Authorized repair center to double the maximum memory available to 8GB.

Benefits of taking your MacBook in for an Authorized Apple repair service for a memory upgrade include:

The knowledge that your new parts are installed properly by qualified Authorized MacBook repair technician whose work is guaranteed.
Faster data streaming - extra memory helps to maintain a constant flow of data and to avoid screen freezes that may occur when watching a video or during other CPU intensive work.
Faster boot-up - The system has more "space" to pre-load the operating system at boot time.
Reduced disk wear - When the memory system is deficient, the system must use hard disk as a means of gaining additional memory space. Activities move data back and forth can cause large performance penalty because the system will be bound by the read / write disk operation.
Enhance all-round performance - For various reasons, the Macs respond well to additional memory and can function significantly faster as a result. Most Apple resellers or Apple Authorized Repair Service Providers will carry the necessary memory modules for an upgrade in-stock.
There are good reasons why your MacBook memory upgrade should be handled by Apple Authorized Reseller or Apple Authorized repair service providers; different versions of the MacBook require different memory modules. Inserting the wrong module could damage the main board or produce unexpected errors.

Choosing a reputable Apple reseller or Apple Authorized Repair Service Center allows you to feel confident that not only are they using quality memory, but the work performed is approved by Apple to meet the specifications required by the operating system and hardware. Apple resellers and Apple Repair Service Centers only use Apple approved replacement parts for MacBook repairs and upgrades.

So before visiting your Apple reseller for an expensive MacBook repair, try upgrading the memory first at your local Apple Authorized Repair Service Center to see if it cures the problem. Apple Authorized Repair Centers are certified to handle all types of MacBook repairs. They have qualified personnel available to help you assess your Apple repair service needs fast and for less money than the Apple Store.

How to Find Cheap Phones

The old concept of mobile phones being lavish toys only for the rich, and of no use to the common man, has been long broken. Cell phones, today, have become a necessity to almost every person.
To tap this growing demand of cellular phones, manufacturers and dealers are coming up with several new models almost every day. Not only are the high-priced phones coming out in the market, cheap phones that comprise several interesting features, have also flooded the market. In fact, a feature-heavy phone does not have to be expensively priced.

As the choice is endless, you have to first determine your requirements. Remember that a low-priced phone is unlikely to comprise the functions of a high-end phone. However, it will fulfill the basic purpose of owning a cell phone i.e. make and receive calls and messages.

To check out the varieties of handsets on offer, you can visit your local electronics store and take a look at the handsets on display. This will give you a fair idea about the range of phones on offer. You can note down the model numbers and the prices attached. You can also jot down the features being offered by the various models and compare them with one another.

With these things in mind, you can go around shopping for cheap phones for sale. The first thing that you must keep in mind while buying an inexpensive mobile phone is the handset's reception quality. Many low-priced phones are known to compromise on this aspect. Ensure that the audio quality of the phone is good.

Many mobile phone companies, when they introduce their products in the market, offer cheap phones that consist of some basic features. The idea is to grab a market share first and then go ahead with innovations. Most of the major mobile phone manufacturers in the world have followed this path. So keep a track of the new players that are entering the market. They are likely to come out with attractively priced handsets.

Well, the internet is undoubtedly the best place where you can find inexpensive cell phones for sale. Nearly all major manufacturers and dealers have their own websites that contain details of the mobile phones that they manufacture. These include the price, description, features and several other aspects. You can visit the websites of all the manufactures, compare the phones, and then buy the phone which you believe to be the most suitable for you.

Most cheap mobile phone manufacturers today are introducing low-priced phones for sale, and many times, an advanced version of an existing model is being brought out within days of introducing the earlier model. You can wait for such an occasion as you are likely to get hold of an advanced phone at a lower price.

All said and done, the customer simply has to take some prudent decisions, so that he can buy the choicest phones at cheap prices.

The Advantages of Using VoIP to Make Cheap Phone Calls Abroad

You've probably heard that you can make cheap phone calls abroad using a relatively new technology called Voice Over Internet Protocol, or 'Voice over IP', or even 'VoIP'. But do you know about the multitude of other advantages of using VoIP to make international calls?

New VoIP technology is causing a revolution in the way people make international phone calls. The main reason that people tend to be attracted to VoIP is because it is a way to make cheap phone calls abroad. But there are many advantages to using VoIP for international communication. Here are a few of them.

1. It's economical. VoIP providers offer you the opportunity to make telephone calls abroad by using your existing broadband service. Because of this, they don't need to charge for overheads such as expensive line rental, like traditional phone providers have to do. So VoIP providers can offer cheap tariffs for all international calls, to countries all around the world, as well as the UK. The world of VoIP means saying goodbye to traditional expectations of high international tariffs, shocking bills and clock-watching to keep the overseas call short. Cheap calls abroad - even free phone calls abroad - are now available to everyone who needs to communicate across borders.

2. You could cancel your existing line. If you have a cable telephone service, you can cancel this altogether without affecting your broadband service (a broadband connection and phone handset are the only things you need to use VoIP). The savings in line rental costs would soon add up - and that's even before you've started using the service to call abroad.

3. VoIP phones usually work on 'call plans', not 'minutes'. VoIP providers can afford to offer a range of so-called 'call plans'. You usually have to pick one of these call plans when you sign to the VoIP provider. From then, you can make unlimited anytime calls to landlines (and sometimes to mobiles) in the countries listed in that particular call plan. If you only ever really call landlines in Europe, for example, you can choose a call plan that covers the relevant European countries. If you regularly call countries elsewhere in the world, there will doubtlessly be a call plan that bundles those together.

4. You get access to cheap international tariffs. Once you've signed up to a VoIP provider, you can also immediately get access to discounted tariffs to countries that aren't listed in your given call plan. So if you call some countries only occasionally, and your call plan doesn't include them, you'll still benefit from the VoIP provider's cheap international rates.

5. It's easy to set up. Getting going with Voice over IP is a doddle. You simply sign up with your provider of choice on-line. You can do this online. If your provider offers free PC-to-PC national and international calls, you just need to make sure that the person you want to call overseas is able to receive your calls. If you want to call phone-to-phone, your VoIP provider will send you an adapter as soon as you've signed up. You simply use this adapter to connect the base of your normal telephone handset to your router or modem. And that's pretty much all there is to it - you're ready to start making cheap phone calls abroad using VoIP.

6. You may be able to add a 'virtual number' to your service. Some VoIP providers will offer you the chance to add a 'virtual number', once you've signed up to their service and you're set up with a VoIP phone number. For this virtual number, you can pick a country code that's local to someone else. So even though you're in the UK, you can for example add a virtual number with a US country code to your account. When the person in the US dials that US number, they'll pay only the cost of a national call. But their call rings straight through to your VoIP phone number back here in the UK.

7. There's not much 'stuff'. Aside from a small adapter, you don't need any bits and pieces, no messy leads etc. To use VoIP, you just use your own home phone and your existing broadband connection, and connect the two using a small adapter sent by your VoIP provider.

8. It's handy. You can manage everything on line, from activating any one of the many free features that most VoIP providers include, to checking details of all international calls made and received. You can even get your voicemail by email, which can be extremely useful if you're somewhere else.

9. It's mobile. VoIP technology means that your VoIP phone number, unlike traditional phone lines, is tied to a person - not to a place. So if you go away, whether it's for a day, a week, a month or more, and even if you travel outside the UK yourself and need to make international calls from another country, you can simply unplug your adapter and take it with you. As long as you've got access to a broadband connection and a handset, you'll be able to use your VoIP number as though you were still at home.

10. It's flexible. Most VoIP providers will allow you to up-date your account at any time. They often offer a range of chargeable add-ons. These may include useful services such as the ability to make VoIP phone calls abroad from your laptop.

Flexibility, convenience, mobility... As you can see, using VoIP to call abroad offers a lot more than just the chance to save money.
