Saving Tuition Dollars on For-Profit Universities

Are you an adult learner thinking about starting or completing your degree, and also thinking about applying to a For-Profit University? Perhaps you are in charge of your company's Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and see all the employees choosing the For-Profit schools over their local universities.

For-Profit universities are very popular options with adult learners. The colleges' ads appear in the newspaper, on radio and TV and any Internet Education Program search shows these schools at the top of the results. These For-Profit schools (University of Phoenix, Capella University, Strayer University, DeVry/Keller University, etc.) tout their programs as "one of the best schools", "top-rated university", "degree geared to today's workplace". Their accelerated formats, choices of online or on-campus and awarding credits for life/work experience are some of the reasons adult learners choose these colleges over their local state and private universities.

Math Homework Help - How to Easily Identify and Solve Quadratic Equations

One of the most common questions that a student asks his or her algebra tutor when seeking math homework help concerns finding math solutions for problems involving quadratic equations. Before attempting to solve any equation, the algebra tutor should aid the student in identifying this type of equation. It can easily be identified by the highest power of the variable x, which should be equal to two. When math solutions require the student to solve a quadratic equation, the algebra tutor should focus on how to solve the equation for the value(s) of x when y is set equal to zero. In other words, the student should solve for the x-intercept(s). The x-intercept(s) are the point(s) at which the graph of the quadratic equation cross(es) the x-axis. Alternatively, the student may be asked to find the zeros or the roots of the quadratic equation, which are identical to solving for the x-intercepts! There are several different ways in which the student can solve this type of equation. Firstly though, y should be set equal to zero. Once this is accomplished, the equation can be solved using either graphing, factoring, or using the quadratic equation.

Top Shrimp Pasta Recipes

In a traditional Italian menu, pasta is never the main course of a meal. A pasta dish is served as primi piatti (1st course) and will be followed by a secondi piatti (second course), which can be meat or fish accompanied by some side dish such as vegetables. Sometimes, when a go to a good Italian restaurant, I try to eat in the traditional Italian way. So, I order some pasta as first course and then some meat or fish. The problem is that after I eat my pasta dish I'm already full and I cannot eat more fish or meat. For me, pasta dishes make a great complete meal, specially if prepared with some meat, chicken or seafood. Actually the great advantage of a pasta dish is: it can be quickly and easily prepared and you have a complete meal. Not to forget the uncountable variations of pasta recipes that there are available.

ATAR to Replace All UAI's

The UAC announced earlier this month that the UAI system will be replaced by the ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank). The conversion of UAI to ATAR aligns NSW's system of measuring HSC performance for the purpose of university admissions to that of other states. The ATAR will replace all UAI's, starting with the year 12 students in 2009, and will be a rank-based score out of 99.95 (instead of 100.00).

How to Reduce Math Anxiety & Gain Confidence in Mathematics

For many students, learning mathematics in school can be a stressful experience. The concepts are new and the material is complex. Furthermore, comprehension of mathematical principles is cumulative in nature, meaning that complete comprehension of fundamental concepts is absolutely critical before comprehension of more advanced concepts can be attempted. Therefore, students that may not have understood early math lessons may feel like they can never "catch up" to the curriculum schedule. However, math does not need to be such a scary subject. In fact, learning math can be enjoyable, because the satisfaction of solving complicated math problems is a satisfaction unlike any other.
